MOGADISHU, Somalia, February 26, 2015 (Garowe Online)-At least two mortars hit inside Somalia’s fortified presidential palace on Thursday, the latest attack by the al-Qaeda linked militant group which carried out deadly attacks in Somalia, Radio Garowe reports.

Security officials in Mogadishu said that three more mortars hit outside the state house that houses Somalia’s top leaders.

Al-Shabab group claimed the responsibility for the attack which comes few days after the group carried out a deadly suicide attack at a hotel in the Somali capital, killing at least 25 people.

One mortar is reported to have hit outside Somalia’s finance ministry while the other hit near the Djiboutian embassy in the presidential compound.

Overnight mortar attacks have targeted the fortified compound before,

However, the latest daily barrages raise concerns for security challenges for security services struggling to contain deadly attacks by the terrorist group fighting the government and the African Union forces in Somalia.
