​Somalia: Deputy Prime Minster officially takes office

MOGADISHU, Somalia - Somalia’s new deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Mohamed Guled has officially taken over office from his predecessor Mohamed Omar Arteh on Saturday, Garowe Online reports.

Several high profile officials, ministers, lawmakers and other key government officials attended the handover ceremony held at the Presidential Palace compound in Mogadishu.

Arteh thanked former government leaders, and the staff members of the office of the PM for their collaboration during his tenure, promising to work closely to his successor.

For his part, Guled said the outgoing deputy Prime Minister and members of his cabinet were fully praiseworthy for the tangible developments they made during their term of office.

"I hope Mohamed Omar to continue serving for the nation and help us execute our responsibility with the support of the government and people," said Guled.

Finally, the incoming deputy PM called on the people of Somalia and the new Federal government institutions to help him in the accomplishment of huge national tasks.
