ISTANBUL, Somalia - Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has arrived in Istanbul, Turkey to attend the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit on Jerusalem, Garowe Online reports.

President Farmajo accompanied by several Ministers, MPs, and high-ranking government officials left Mogadishu for Turkey on Monday afternoon, Dec 11 at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart.

The extraordinary meeting which has been called by Erdogan will focus on President Donald Trump's decision on Wednesday to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The meeting, which brings together leaders from the OIC member states is expected to kick start in Turkey's Istanbul on Wednesday, December 13, according to Turkish Foreign Ministry.

The OIC will make a united stance on the issue of Al-Quds Al-Sharif and call upon the United States to review its decision that triggered widespread international condemnation, including from US allies.

Israel annexed the eastern part of Jerusalem in the 1967 Middle East war, declaring the holy city its eternal capital while Palestinians want that part to be the capital of their future state.
