Somalia: ​Hirshabelle Parliament overwhelmingly approves new cabinet

JOWHAR, Somalia- The Lawmakers of Hirshabelle state have on Saturday voted unanimously to endorse the new cabinet nominated by President Ali Abdullahi Osoble, Garowe Online reports.

Hirshabelle Parliament Speaker Osman Barre has chaired the session in which of the 75 MPs present, 72 voted to endorse the cabinet, while 3 abstained with no objections.

The lawmakers voted in show of hands with majority approved the 52-member cabinet ministers that was appointed by HirShabelle President Osoble last month.

Addressing the Parliament, President Osoble has thanked the MPs for overwhelmingly endorsing his cabinet, and pledged to solve the disputes threatening his administration.

"I really thank the members of HirShabelle Parliament for their history making confirmation votes," said Hirshabelle President Osoble during his speech.

The endorsement of the new cabinet comes as some MPs accused the President of naming the cabinet, without consultations with the local clans and state Parliament.
