Somalia: Man kills 4 family members in Mogadishu, turns gun on self

MOGADISHU, Somalia - Family, neighbors in shock after a man shot and killed four of his family members in Mogadishu, the Somali capital on Saturday evening, the 5th May, Garowe Online reports.

A witness said the man armed with an AK-47 assault rifle carried out a shooting spree in which he killed his wife, sister and two other male cousins at his house in former oil refinery area in the capital's Wadajir district.

The killer, Abdulkadir Mohamud Adani executed the family members in one spot and subsequently shot himself in the head after turning the gun on self, according to authorizes who arrived at the scene later.

Adan was reported to have purchased the gun on Friday a day before he committed the gruesome murder that left many Mogadishu residents in shock.

The slain family members were identified as follows:

Halima Hussein Ali Kowshe - wife

Hawo Mohamud Adani - sister

Mohamed Turyare - cousin

Abdullahi Mohamed Yalahow - cousin

The motive behind the mass shooting still remained unclear, however, Somali security officials in the crime area say the terrifying incident is under investigation.
