MOGADISHU, Somalia Feb 9, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Lawmakers in Somalia’s Federal Parliament have approved the new cabinet by Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke in an overwhelming vote on Monday, Garowe Online reports.

191 MPs voted in favor of the cabinet lineup while 22 MPs voted against, clearing the way for the termination of four-month long bureaucratic paralysis.

Prior to the parliamentary vote, Prime Minister Sharmarke appeared before the parliament, requesting the MPs to endorse his cabinet.

Parliament Speaker Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari has declared the choices in the cabinet ‘legitimate’.

Chief Justice Aideed Abdullahi Ilka Hanaf right away sworn the cabinet members into their respective ministries.

The approval of new cabinet was postponed twice on account of tough opposition from the 275-seat-chamber of parliament.
