Somalia: President Farmajo set to make his 2nd visit to UAE

MOGADISHU, Somalia - Somali President H.E Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo is expected to make his second state visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday, November 19, sources at his entourage said, Garowe Online reports.

The President accompanied by several ministers, lawmakers and senior government officials will leave Mogadishu for Abu Dhabi on the invitation of the UAE government authorities.

President Farmajo is scheduled to meet with United Arab Emirates Emir and other high-ranking officials to discuss on the bilateral relations between the two countries and other issues, including trade cooperation.

This becomes the second visit by Somali President to UAE since he took power on February 8, 2017.

In April, Farmajo paid a historic first visit to the United Arab Emirates before the Gulf crises started on June 5, this year. The Somali government has taken a neutral position on the GCC rift.

The UAE is supporting Somalia in fields of security, trains Somali National Army [SNA] soldiers in Mogadishu and implementing development projects in the horn of Africa country.
