Somalia: Qatari delegation arrives in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia- A high-level Qatari delegate has arrived in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Sunday amid Gulf diplomatic crisis, Garowe Online reports.
The delegate led by Qatari's Minister State for Foreign Affairs Sultan Bin Saad Al Muraikhi was received at Mogadishu Airport by government officials and taken to Villa Somalia.
Al Muraikhi met with President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo at the state house, and discussed on a range of issues, including bilateral relations and diplomatic crisis in the Persian Gulf.
The sources hinted that the delegate's arrival timing appears to be crucial comes days after Somali government stood a neutral position in the Gulf Crises, and called for dialogue.
Al Muraikhi welcomed the government's decision, and said Qatar's relation with Somalia will not be wavered, and long last, according to sources at the Presidential Palace.
The visit by the Qatari State Minister for Foreign Affairs comes ahead of the arrival of Saudi delegate in Mogadishu, to convince Somalia side with Gulf states, and sever ties with Doha.
Reliable sources tell GO that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is withholding $50 million financial pledge made to Somalia after government decided to stay neutral in the Gulf situation.
