Somalia: Second blast hits the capital Mogadishu, kills 6

MOGADISHU, Somalia- At least 6 people were reported killed and several wounded in a landmine explosion in the Somali capital of Mogadishu on Thursday, Garowe Online report.

The explosion is reported to be the second to hit the capital in the same day.

A spokesman for Banadir administration, Abdifatah Omar Halane, has confirmed the blast and said 6 people among them 4 civilian were killed in a bomb blast near a security checkpoint.

The landmine bomb was planted near military checkpoint located at ex-control of Afgoye checkpoint.

On Thursday morning, a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into busy restaurant near the national theater, killing two. The restaurant is located about 400 meters away from the Presidential Palace.

Al Qaida-linked Al Shabaab group has claimed responsibility for the attack that occurred in the capital of Mogadishu.
