Somalia: SIMAD University’s Acting President gunned down in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia Dec 10, 2014 (Garowe Online)-The Acting President of SIMAD University and Lecturer has been shot and killed at KPP junction in Mogadishu’s Hodon district on Monday according to officials, Garowe Online reports.

Late Ibrahim Mohamud Hamud was gunned down while driving into SIMAD compound at 9:00 AM in the morning, witnesses and fellow lecturers unveiled.  

Speaking to the media at Madina hospital where Hamud’s body was brought, Banadir regional administration spokesman Ali Seeko said, the security forces are on manhunt for the assailants who fled from the scene of the crime.

“The chief aim is to annihilate key figures including academicians,” he added, pointing accusing fingers at cruel networks.

Nobody claimed credit for the shooting but as has been the case, Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group targets government officials and foreigners in broad day light attacks in volatile Mogadishu.

Federal Government of Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has served as the head of SIMAD University that more recently graduated 2, 0000 students.
