Somalia: Veteran journalist Gobdon dies

MOGADISHU -Towering figure in media, Abdi Haji Gobdon has died overnight on Monday in Mogadishu according to colleagues and relatives, Garowe Online reports.

Late Gobdon, who worked for Radio Mogadishu for many years in the past ,and served as a special reporter for former President Mohamed Siyad Barre passed away of natural complications.

Somali Information Minister and media members paid tribute to late Gobdon as a foremost professional of his era.

He has been most known for his vital role in retrieving erstwhile archives of the State station, Radio Mogadishu.

Information Minister Mohamed Abdi Hayir Mareye has sent condolences to his bereaved families.
