Somalia: Victims of Al Shabaab Bombing

MOGADISHU, Somalia, February 22, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Garowe Online got the names and photographic images of some of the people killed in Mogadishu’s deadliest rampage in months.

At least ten people were initially confirmed dead; however the death toll has been gradually rising, with the latest accounts disclosing 20 deaths.

Abdishakur Mire Adan: Politician, renowned author and veteran journalist died in the attack. Late adan [better known as ‘Obol] held various posts in former Puntland governments between 2002 and 2013. Over the last few months, he had been maintaining presence in Mogadishu as the Deputy Chairman of Daljir Party.

Sultan Abdulkadir Suldan Yasin Kenadid: A well-known and titled elder who hails from Puntland was among the victims of Al Shabaab terror attack. Kenadid comes from the once powerful and ruling Keenadiid Sultanate.

MP Ahmed Du’alle Haji Kafe: Late Kafe replaced slain female MP and popular singer Sado Ali Warsame. His family resides in the vast Sool and Sanaag regions.

MP Omar Ali Furdug: Late Furdug joined the 275-seat-chamber of parliament in 2012 and he had since been living in volatile Mogadishu.

Abdifatah Khalif Badiyow and Mohamed Elmi: Badiyow was advisor to Somalia Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke while the latter has served as permanent secretary at the office of the Prime Minister.

Mohamed Adan Guuled (Ano Gel): Ano Gel, former journalist and Diaspora returnee from UK had since been the Deputy Banadir Governor.

Mohamed Yusuf Sharlawe: served as Directo- General at Puntland Commerce Ministry under the incumbency of President Abdirahman Mohamed Farole.

Shire Jama and Mohamed Amin: Both were waiting for Turkish scholarship and they have left Puntland for Mogadishu in late 2014.
