HARGEISA, Somalia, December 6, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Somaliland Defence Minister said, his government is deeply concerned about the rebuilding of Somali National Air Force by Turkey, Garowe Online reports.

Ahmed Ali Adami, told local newspaper ‘Dawan’ that havocs unleashed on Somaliland civilians by military in 1980s still resonate in the minds of many.

“I tell Turkey, don’t pile up another mayhem on Somaliland. We still remember how devastating [Somali air force] was. Turkish government is not expected to plot against [Somaliland and its likes],” said Adami.

The alarm raised over strong military comes as Turkey continues stepping up its involvement in the war-ravaged East African country.

Turkish Airlines to commence Somaliland flights

Turkish delegation led by deputy consul general has travelled to Hargeisa in a bid to expand carrier’s operations into breakaway Somaliland region.

Somaliland Civil Aviation Minister, Osman Abdullahi Sahardiid (Adani) received Turkish Airlines delegation members at his office, subsequently agreeing to their proposal.

Introductory trip fares are due to be available.

Turkey has forged multilateral ties in various sectors including aviation with rebuilding Somalia.
