Somalia: Somaliland President discussed trip to Ethiopia, talks with Khatoma state

HARGAYSA, Somaliland- A delegation led by the President of Somaliland, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud (Siilaanyo) have arrived back to Hargaisa city, and spoke to the media at the Airport about their recent trip to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, Garowe Online reports.

President Siilanyo told local media that they held talks with the Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn in Addis Ababa on issues of bilateral relations and common interests between the sides.

“I led a delegation on an official visit to the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on 28 October, and we met the Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and government officials on 29 October, we were warmly welcomed and we have discussed matters of mutual interests,” said Siilanyo.

He also told media that the delegate held meetings with Khatomo state President Ali Khalif Galyr in the Ethiopian capital, and noted they both have agreed to advance talks in Ethiopia.

“During our stay in Addis Ababa we held meetings with Khatamo state officials led by President Ali Khalif Galayr and we agreed to hold further talks in Ethiopia on 17 November and we will announce more details about the meetings on Saturday,” added Siilanyo.

Somaliland, located in northwestern Somalia declared its independence from the rest of the country as a de facto sovereign state in 1991 but it has not been recognized internationally yet.
