Ethiopia, France affirm strong ties as Macron visits Addis Ababa

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Friday greeted French President Emmanuel Macron in Addis Ababa, marking Macron's second visit to Ethiopia in six years and underscoring the deepening diplomatic and economic links between the two countries.

"The ties between our two nations continue to be strengthened, and I look forward to our discussions during his stay in Ethiopia," Abiy said in a welcoming address.

Macron's visit to Ethiopia comes on the heels of his stop in Djibouti, highlighting France's engagement in the Horn of Africa region.
