NAIROBI, Kenya - Security teams in Kenya have repulsed two Al-Shabaab attacks in the country, officials said, in an incident which comes at the time Kenya Defence Forces [KDF] are conducting operations in Northeastern and Lamu regions following the group's frequent raids.

At Fafi, Garissa, police in Kenya managed to repulse the group's attacks which would have been devastating. Al Shabaab militants staged attacks on Alinjugur Administration Police camp Borehole Five Administration Police camp and Jembele simultaneously, officials said.

The incidents took place on Saturday morning and no injuries were reported. Saleh Yakub who is Fafi constituency MP, commended the police for repulsing the attack. He asked authorities to enhance operations in the region to address the terror-related attacks.

“With most roads being impassable in the area due to rains, we urge for more air patrols and delivery of goods to all including security agencies,” he said.

A few days ago, the militants waged yet another attack at Alinjugur police post, leaving one officer injured. The attack happened a few days ago after security teams responded to attacks from the militants, who had raided the camp.

Police say the militants fired one rocket-propelled grenade towards the station followed by several gunshots in the Tuesday morning incident, The Star reports.

“The officers engaged and managed to repulse the militants and in the process, one police officer sustained a gunshot in the right leg around the ankle,” police said.

The government of Kenya deployed Special Forces from the Kenya Defense Forces to the region to tackle the militants and already, the move has yielded its intended purpose. For the last month, several Al-Shabaab bases in the country have been destroyed by the army.
