BOSSASO, Somalia, November 8, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Tropical cyclone Chapala has affected imports from Mideast markets, Puntland Ports and Maritime Transport Minister Abdullahi Jama Salah said on Sunday, Garowe Online reports.

Salah acknowledged that fierce winds and torrential downpours have adversely impacted shipping in key trade routes in the Gulf of Aden.

Meteorologists are predicting that less devastating cyclone Megh will graze Puntland which forms the tip of the Horn, possibly on Monday.

Puntland’s close proximity to the Middle Eastern markets whetted Arab businesses.

Boats and ships loaded with either food imports or livestock exports have for long crossed the Red sea.
