GAROWE, Somalia - Puntland's security forces have delivered a severe blow to ISIS activities in Somalia, obliterating five command bases of the extremist group in the Al-Miskaat mountains, officials reported on Saturday.

The ongoing operation is being conducted without the support of the Somali federal government, highlighting Puntland's self-reliant approach to combating terrorism.

The offensive involved the incineration of ISIS fortifications in the Il-Cameyra region to prevent their reoccupation. A key achievement in this operation was the recapture of a vital water well, previously controlled by the militants, which was critical for their operational sustainability.

Additionally, Puntland's forces successfully downed three ISIS drones over the Cal-Miskaat mountains. These drones, equipped with explosives and engaged in reconnaissance, posed a significant threat to both military and civilian lives.

The Puntland government declared the successful seizure of these strategic points, underscoring their determination to fight terrorism.

The latest combat victory not only hampers ISIS's logistical and operational capabilities but also showcases Puntland's commitment to regional security without reliance on external assistance.
