Somalia: Senator Farole sends condolence on the death of late politician Salaeh
GAROWE, Puntland- Former Puntland President and Somalia’s Upper House Senator Abdirahman Mohamed Farole offered condolence to the Somali people following the death of Barkad Ali Salah, a well-known politician in Puntland region, Garowe Online reports.
Late Salah held various positions with Somalia’s central government and Puntland administration. He was the Mayor of Bosaso in 1960s and also served as the Governor of Galgadud region and Mudug during Siyad Bare’s military regime.
In an interview with Radio Garowe on Tuesday, Senator Farole whose currently in Australia, extended his condolence to the family, relatives and the people of Puntland for the loss of one of founding fathers of the Puntland State in August 1998.
Farole praised Saleh for his relentless efforts to support the people and commended his long public work for the past 60 years.
Speaking about his relation with Saleh, Senator Farole said; “I knew him over 50 years, since he was the Mayor of Bosaso. In July 1967, I was assigned to Bosaso city, and I saw him there, he started politics while young, we kept in contact for long time since. He served as the deputy chairman of the Election Committee when I was the President of Puntland state.”
Late Saleh became a prominent figure among regional elders who are involved in the matters concerning the region. He also served as a senior advisor for late President Mohamud "Adde" Muse Hersi, and past administration led by President Farole
Farole prayed to Allah Almighty to bestow his mercy on late politican Saleh.
