Somalia: Clan elder gunned down in Beledweyne

BELEDWEYNE, Somalia, August 27, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Somali clan elder has been gunned down in Hiran regional capital of Beledweyne of central Somalia on Thursday according to witnesses, Garowe Online reports.

Late Omar Sheikh Abdiwahid marks the fourth elder to be shot and killed in Beledweyne since the beginning of the year, 2015.

African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) peacekeepers reached the scene of the attack to track the unidentified assailants who fled right away.

Beledweyne, located in central Somalia saw a string of assassinations targeting traditional leaders and intellectuals over the last three months.
