Somalia: Al Shabaab executes two men for spying

JILIB, Somalia - Al Shabaab group has publicly executed two men on charges of spying for British and Kenyan intelligence agencies in Jilib district of middle Jubba region, on Wednesday, Garowe Online reports.

The two men, identified as Mohamed Ibrahim, 28, and Abdullahi Daleel Muse, 30, who are Somali and Kenyan nationals respectively, were blamed for providing information about the group to MI6 British spy agency and Kenyan military. Al Shabaab group court sentenced the two men to death by firing squad in Jilib town.

According to sources, hundreds of Jilib residents have witnessed the execution of the two men, after Al Shabaab firing squad carried out the killing in an open site in town.  

On Tuesday, the terror group has executed four people, including an elder whom it said was  collaborating with Ethiopian troops in Eel Ali area, 70 km west of Beledweyne city in central Somalia.

Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group has vowed to fight the Western-backed Somali Federal government and often carry out similar executions in their strongholds areas in Southern Somalia.
