Hirshabelle state official who asked not to be named has confirmed the battle, saying it broke out after two rival clan militias confronted in a rural area near Adalle, a scene of clan revenge killings.

"There was an overnight clashes between armed rival clan militias outside Adalle district which left at least 5 dead and injured nearly a dozen who were admitted to the town's general hospital," said the official.
