Somalia: At least five killed in tribal clashes in southern Somalia

ADALLE, Somalia- At least five people are reported to have been killed, and several wounded in a renewed clan revenge-related clashes near the coastal town of Adalle in middle Shabelle region, Garowe Online reports

Hirshabelle state official who asked not to be named has confirmed the battle, saying it broke out after two rival clan militias confronted in a rural area near Adalle, a scene of clan revenge killings.

"There was an overnight clashes between armed rival clan militias outside Adalle district which left at least 5 dead and injured nearly a dozen who were admitted to the town's general hospital," said the official.

He added the fighting was intense as the sides used armed vehicles, and the toll could get higher as the fighting still continuing in the area. However, there are efforts to mediate between the sides, and the elders are about to go and solve it, he said.

Hirshabelle  administration officials have called on both warring sides to immediately stop the bloodshed, and solve their differences through peaceful dialogue.
