Somalia: Federal Govt trying to mend relations with Jubaland

MOGADISHU, Somalia, June 13, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Amidst strained ties, Somalia’s Federal Government is trying to mend relations with Jubaland administration, Garowe Online reports.
Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke has on Saturday announced that he named a ministerial committee to resolve the standing differences between the Federal Government and Jubaland.
Headed by Interior Minister Abdirahman Mohamed Hussein, the ministerial committee members have been set to leave for the southern port city of Kismayo in the coming days, said Prime Minister Sharmarke.
A few days after Somalia Prime Minister met with Jubaland leaders, 132 MPs of the often-fickle 275-seat-chamber of federal parliament voted in favor of a controversial motion of no-confidence.
On June 6, Jubaland officially broke off all relations with UN-backed central government, saying the passing of the motion could plunge the country deeper into fresh crises.
