MOGADISHU, Somalia, January 6, 2016 (Garowe Online)-A group of police officers engaged in a gunfight with army soldiers in Mogadishu’s Hodon district on Wednesday, Garowe Online reports.

Witnesses reported at least two people dead in the armed confrontation that lasted two hours.

The deadly gunfight flared in Kay zone neighborhood in Hodon district.

Local sources say, police officers and national army troops quarreled on the demolition of disputed slums; subsequently triggering a gun battle after armed forces confronted the police move.

Disputed plots are reported to be a shelter for families of Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers.

African Union peacekeepers later intervened in the deadly Mogadishu incident.
