Somalia: Mortar Shells Hit Kismayo University

KISMAYO, Somalia-A barrage of mortar rounds dropped on a university compound in the southern port city of Kismayo on Saturday, Garowe Online reports. 

The shells struck Kismayo University where Somali government forces and African Union peacekeepers are co-located shortly after a military retreat from Bulo Gadud village, some 30km off Kismayo. 

Jubaland forces and Ethiopian-AMISOM troops have mobilized themselves for recapture of Bulo Gadud. 

The fresh military endeavor in the region has come after Jubaland President Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Madobe) unveiled anti-militant push that could see areas remaining under the control of Al Shabaab liberated over coming weeks.
