​Somalia: President Farmajo appoints new chief of staff

MOGADISHU, Somalia- In a presidential decree the President of Somalia’s Federal government Mohamed Abdulahi Mohamed Farmajo has appointed new chief of staff on Wednesday, Garowe Online reports.

The new chief of staff Fahad Yasin will be replacing Abukar Dahir Osman “Baale”, stating he is competent and qualified for the post, according to the document.

President Farmajo commended former chief of staff for his great work during his tenure and indicated he placed much efforts to serve his country and people.

The new official Yasin, a political novice is well-known for his role in the presidential campaign of President Farmajo last and his good relation with Qatar.

Yasin also played a major role in the election of former Somali President Hasan Shaikh Mahmoud in September 2012, but political conflict between Yasin and Farah Abdulqadir a close ally to Mahmoud has weakened his influence in the past administration.
