Somalia: Puntland President receives Egyptian diplomats

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia-The President of Somalia’s Puntland Government AbdiweliMohamed Ali has met with Egyptian Ambassador to Ethiopia Aboubakr Hefny in the capital, Addis Ababa in the margins of a working visit on Monday, Garowe Online reports. 

Accompanied by Egyptian officials, the top diplomat and Puntland President’s delegation discussed ways of bolstering trade ties between Puntland and Egypt. 

Hefny expressed his desire for investment opportunities and all-round trade ties, given the historic relations between Somalis and Egyptians.  

Egypt is expected to send business delegation that would look into investment in economic infrastructure sector to the northeastern State of Puntland in the near future.  

Ali has encouraged Egyptian investors to take advantage of stability opportunity, and initiate a new trade volume with Puntland. Puntland President has also addressed Egyptian diplomats on the recent progress made in various areas such as airports and seaports. 

Ali has visited Ethiopia to attend the Tana High-Level forum on Security in Amhara regional State capital, Bahir Dar.
