HARGEISA, Somaliland-Somali singer Nasteho Indho’s concerts at Crown arena have been cancelled by Somaliland Religious Affairs Ministry on Saturday night, Garowe Online reports.

The modern music star planned to perform at the invitation of her fans and Somaliland singers; however a decree issued by the ministry ordered police to suspend the concerts.

Despite efforts by Interior Minister and police commissioners, Nasteho Indho could not secure a go-ahead for her show.

Enthusiastic crowds afterwards showed solidarity with the female singer, and said they felt disappointed at the suspension of the concert’s intoxicating tune.

A recent objection by Puntland Islamic scholars to the superstar’s shows in Garowe is believed to have encouraged Somaliland to toe a similar action.

The songs of Nasteho Indho have become hits in Somalia’s booming music industry.
