UAE warns of possible action if Iran attacks continue

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — The United Arab Emirates’ minister of state for international cooperation, Reem Al-Hashimi, said the country may take stronger measures if Iran continues launching missiles and drones toward its territory.

In an interview with CNN, Al-Hashimi said the UAE is prepared to defend itself against ongoing threats.

“We are ready to defend ourselves. We hope it does not come to that, but we will not sit idle while we continue to be the target of such a wave of attacks,” she said.

Asked whether the UAE could resort to military action, Al-Hashimi indicated that such a step remains a possibility.

“If it comes to that, it comes to that,” she said.

She added that responsibility now lies with Iran, urging restraint in its approach toward a neighboring country she described as historically cooperative.

“Right now, the ball is in Iran’s court — how they choose to behave toward a neighbor that has traditionally been very fair and cooperative,” Al-Hashimi said.
