Somalia: Puntland ex-President welcomed to Gardo

GARDO, Somalia, January 6, 2016 (Garowe Online)-Former Puntland President Abdirahman Mohamed Farole has made stopover in northeastern Gardo town enroute to Bossaso port city on Wednesday, Garowe Online reports.

Karkaar regional administration, Gardo Mayor Abdi Saed Osman, traditional leaders and flag-waving crowds welcomed Farole’s delegation to Gardo.

Former President Farole held talks focused on national matters and issues surrounding Puntland with clan elders and local officials.

Gardo Mayor Osman has expressed his pleasure over the visit of Puntland ex-President in culmination for salute by intellectuals and traditional leaders.

Event speakers wished Farole well in his future endeavors, recalling upon his economic and political achievements over the course of his tenure in office.

Former Puntland leader thanked Gardo people for the warm welcome.

He said that he is heading to Bossaso for the inauguration of revamped airport whose tender attracted more than 20 international companies under his incumbency in late 2013.

Farole’s visit to Gardo marks the first since his return to Puntland on July 29, 2015.
