Somali leaders wrap up a week-long Forum in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia - The leaders of Somalia's Federal Government and the Federal Member States have wrapped up a week-long consultative meeting in Mogadishu on Sunday, Garowe Online reports.

Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has chaired the conference kicked off 28th Oct at Villa Somalia with the attendance of PM Hassan Ali Khaire, his deputy Mahdi Mohamed Guled, Puntland President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali "Gaas", Jubbland President Ahmed Madoobe, Southwest President Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aden, Galmudug President, Ahmed Dualle Geelle Haaf, HirShabelle President Mohamed Abdi Waare, the governor of Benadir, Federal Minister of Interior Abdi Farah Said Juha.

The meeting focused on Security, fight against Al Shabaab, development of the Federalism, the constitutional review process, the 2020 election, strengthening cooperation, development projects and the humanitarian aid.

At the conclusion, the Somali leaders have reached an agreement and issued a joint statement that emphasizes Politics, Security, the rebuilding of the country's National Army (SNA), Federal affairs, “one person, one vote” elections in 2020, review of the draft constitution, development projects and humanitarian aid.

The meeting was the second between President Farmajo and the leaders of the Federal Members States since his election in February 2017, to discuss political progress, security and ways to strengthen the frosty relations.
