Somalia: IGAD Ministerial Meeting concluded in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia Jan 10, 2015 (Garowe Online)-The 53rd Extraordinary Session of IGAD Council of Ministers has come to conclusion in Mogadishu on Saturday afternoon, Garow e Online reports.
 
Somalia Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke has officially closed the meeting, commending security forces for the tight security over the course of the high-profile gathering.
 
Sharmarke once again reiterated that he remains committed to the federalization process and vision 2016.
 
A 23-point communique by the session participants praised the military gains by allied forces on the front-line and the formation of federal states in southern Somalia.
 
UN envoy Ambassador Nicholas Kay called IGAD Ministerial Meeting in Mogadishu a historic.
 
High level delegations from Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Sudan, Djibouti and South Sudan departed Adan Adde International Airport for their respective countries after the one-day session at the heavily militarized hotel, SYL.
 
Meanwhile, Federal Government of Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud told a press conference at Villa Somalia that IGAD heads of State will meet for the first time in Mogadishu in 2015.
