MOGADISHU, Somalia Sept 24, 2014 (Garowe Online)-Federal Government of Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who has locked horns with Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed over the sacking of Intelligence Boss is campaigning for a new motion according to independent sources in Mogadishu, Garowe Online reports.

Ahead of Mohamud’s departure for the United Nations General Assembly, 75 MPs are said to have voiced support for Mohamud’s decision in a bid to oust the second head of government in a parliamentary no-confidence vote over the course of Mohamud’s tenure of office.

Speaking to Garowe Online on condition of anonymity, officials said President Mohamud more recently discussed the impeachment of Mohamed with Parliament Speaker Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari but Speaker Jawari showed extreme reluctance, refusing to take a leading role in the move.

Though the political infighting between the two has been dragging on for a month, Somalia President was angered by the sacking of his close aide and former National Intelligence and Security Agency Chief Abdullahi Mohamed Ali (Sanbaloshe).

The often fickle 275-seat-chamber of parliament impeached Mohamed’s predecessor in no-confidence motion on December 2, 2013.

Mogadishu-based Federal Government has yet to exert credible authority over vast territories, mainly rural areas in southern and central Somalia.
