KISMAYO, Somalia- Jubbaland and Galmudug administrations have released their list of upper house candidates, joining Puntland state that made the announcement on Satruday, Garowe Online reports.

Missing the deadline already on October 5, Federal Indirect Electoral Implementation team (FIEIT) has given extension to existing and emerging federal member states to finalize the list before October 10, to avoid delays in the electoral process.

Jubaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam Madobe has nominated candidates to compete for the 8 seats quota in the Upper House chamber of Federal Parliament, similarly to Galmudug Interim administration.

Puntland, Galmudug and Jubaland so far have met the deadline set by Somalia’s electoral body, whereas Southwest, Somaliland and emerging Hir-Shabelle state are remaining to place forward their quota seats of the Upper House chamber.

These come following meetings between UN special envoy and regional leaders recently, aimed at pushing efforts to adhere to the deadlines and avoid further delays to the electoral process that is expected to conclude in November 30.
