Somalia:Mortars targeted Somalia's presidential palace

Mogadishu, Somalia- Reports said several mortars have landed near Somali’s Presidential palace in the capital Mogadishu on Tuesday amid expected meeting between Somali leaders gathering for talks, Garowe online reports.

GO Reporter confirmed that at least 6 mortars landed in residential areas in Wardhigleey district close to the heavily fortified Presidential Palace and also near AMISOM base near Mogadishu Airport.

So far there is no clear information on the casualties of the attacks.

Somali government troops along with AMISOM troops were subsequently deployed in the areas and roads near the Presidential palace.

That attack occurred while leaders from the Somali Federal Government and regional administrations are scheduled to hold the first high level meeting in Mogadishu.

No group claimed responsibility for the attacks but al-Shabaab militant group had carried out similar attacks on the Presidential palace in the past.
