Somalia: Jubaland forces officials killed in blast at military base

KISMAYO, Somalia, September 17, 2015 (Garowe Online)-Two Jubaland forces officials have been killed in a bomb blast in military base in the southern port city of Kismayo on Thursday, Garowe Online reports.

Jubaland Forces Commander-in-Chief Gen. Adan Kojar was presiding over a gathering in the Army base which is situated a few meters away from Kismayo presidential palace, when the bomb went off.

Three Jubaland soldiers were wounded in the explosion, sources have confirmed.

Unverified reports disclose that uniformed assailants planted the bomb inside the camp.

Meanwhile, overnight on Wednesday three Jubaland soldiers on patrol sustained injuries in grenade attack.

Somali National Army (SNA) and African Union peacekeepers are co-located in the military base.
