Somalia: Gunmen murder female peace activist in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia-Unidentified gunmen have shot and killed a woman peace activist in Mogadishu on Saturday night according to relatives and police, Garowe Online reports. 

Ibado Abdi Mohamed, 80, was murdered in Hodon district in the latest in a series of targeted assassinations in Mogadishu. Mohamed has campaigned with October Women Group.  

In a separate incident, armed assailants attacked two girls—Fowsiyo Jama Hassan and Shankaron Jamal Hassan-- from the same family in Mogadishu’s Dharkenley district, killing the former, a mother of three, and inflicting serious injuries on her sister.  

Somali security forces cordoned off the scenes of crimes, right away carrying out search operations to apprehend perpetrators. Targeted killings have been on increase in Mogadishu over the last few months.
