Somalia: Minister of Humanitarian affairs resigns

MOGADISHU, Somalia - Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management for the Federal  Government of Somalia Maryan Qasim has stepped down on Wednesday, Garowe Online reports.

Qasim has submitted her resignation to the office of the Prime Minister. She is the second Somali Minister to resign from the Federal government in less than two months, citing personal reasons.

"Today, Nov 15, I announce my official resignation from the Federal Government of Somalia for personal reasons," she said in a statement posted on her Twitter account.

No reason was given for the resignation of the humanitarian Minister, but, sources said Qasim left the job due to lack of consultations on issues touching on her ministry.

Last month, Somali Defense Minister Abdirashid Abdullahi Mohamed quit in an unclear circumstance.
