MOGADISHU, Somalia - Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud says his government has tried to reform some of the sectors which had lost favour in the country, noting that the DanQaran administration has made profound progress throughout the last two years.

Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who is serving his second term, maintained that his administration has made several accomplishments which would be remembered in generations to come, regardless of who takes over.

According to him, his administration has managed to liberate various strategic towns across the country besides bolstering economic gains over the years. Reforms in governance, he added, have been activated within Somalia.

“The achievements of the DanQaran Government over the past two years are undeniable and visible to all. These successes were achieved through unity, collaboration, and teamwork,” President Mohamud stated.

The government, he said, has worked closely with regional authorities for tangible development. His administration has, however, been at loggerheads with the Puntland regional authority under President Said Abdullahi Deni.

“The next two years will be different from the last; we will introduce major projects, and that is our promise,” he added.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received detailed reports from Cabinet Ministers, who presented the tangible progress made during their tenure. The ministers elaborated on the successes achieved and outlined the priority plans for the future.

Hassan Sheikh is transitioning Somalia to a universal suffrage election, an idea which has received resistance from Puntland which decries of lack of public participation. Puntland maintains it does not recognise the federal government of Somalia.
