Somalia: Prime Minister jets off to Qatar for summit

MOGADISHU, Somalia - Somalia's Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khayre flew to Qatar on Saturday, on his first foreign trip since he was appointment in last February, Garowe Online reports.

PM Khayre accompanied by members of his cabinet left Mogadishu for Doha to attend an international meeting "Doha Forum" that will focus on the current situation in Somalia.

During the summit, Khayre is expected to highlight about the agenda of his Federal government, drought situation that hit the country and urge the leaders to push efforts to assist his government in areas of security and development.

Reliable sources at PM's office, revealed to GO that Somali Premier is scheduled to hold talks with top Qatari officials to advance bilateral relations between the two countries.

Qatar is among few foreign countries that provide support to Somalia and launched various development and infrastructure projects in the horn of African nation in the past years.
