Somalia: Prominent clan elder passes away while mediating in dispute

BELEDWEYNE, Somalia, January 3, 2016 (Garowe Online)-Prominent clan elder Ugas Abdirahman Ugas Khalif Ugas Rooble has died while mediating in dispute between two clans in Hiran regional capital of Beledweyne of central Somalia on Sunday, Garowe Online reports.

Relatives and government officials have pronounced Ugas Rooble dead at a local hospital shortly after his sudden illness.

The key traditional leader has resolved many disputes involving local clans in Hiran region, with the latest being renewed clan clashes that claimed at killed over a dozen people.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has grieved the loss of late Ugas Rooble in a press statement from his office.

Moreover, he was working on fresh state formation bid in southern Somalia with Mogadishu-based national government.
