Somalia: Senior Al Shabaab official captured in Mogadishu Op

MOGADISHU, Somalia-Somali security forces have captured senior Al Shabaab official accused of organizing attacks against Somali National Army and AMISOM in a security operation, Garowe Online reports. 

Intelligence officers conducted the anti-terror raid in Mogadishu’s Kahda district where Al Shabaab official, Hassan Fanah was staying.

 Banadir regional administration spokesman Abdifatah Omar Halane told the media that agencies have been tipped off about Fanah whom they have tracked closely.  

“Overnight [on Sunday] security forces captured Al Shabaab official called Hassan Fanah with a bounty on his head,” said Halane.  

The spokesman expressed optimism about the security situation in Mogadishu.

 Al Shabaab claimed credit for a string of explosions and targeted killings in Mogadishu.
