Somalia, Uganda to Sign Three MoUs at Kampala Investment Summit

KAMPALA, Oct 1, 2025 – Somalia and Uganda are set to sign three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) during the Second Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) Investment and Business Summit, scheduled for October 7–8 in Kampala, officials said Monday.

The summit, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, will be attended by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, according to organizers.

Held under the theme "Promoting Uganda–Somalia partnership through trade, investment and tourism, and harnessing opportunities in both countries," the summit will focus on enhancing cooperation in key economic sectors.

The three MoUs are expected to cover trade and investment promotion, tourism development, and diplomatic collaboration, officials familiar with the agenda said.

Established in 2022 to bolster political and economic cooperation, the Uganda–Somalia Joint Permanent Commission held its inaugural session in Kampala in August of the same year.

The upcoming summit will bring together government officials, business leaders, and investors from both nations, as they seek to expand trade ties and explore mutual growth opportunities in sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, and services.
