HUDUR, Somalia- Southwest State leader Sharif Hassan Sheikh Adan is visiting southwestern Bakool region to pit push against Al Shabaab militants, Garowe Online reports.

Adan was welcomed by cheering crowds and Somali federal members of parliament to Hudur where he will preside over a graduation ceremony for paramilitary units.

Southwest State administration leader is also assessing the situation under tight security.

Some sources say, he has come to Hudur for the passing out of new counter-terror units that will spearhead the fight against Al Shabaab militants.

Over a month ago, local residents announced a parallel administration at protest regarding political marginalization and other grievances.

Ever since, officials have been working on a political settlement.

Al Shabaab lost a string of strategic towns in central and southern Somalia to allied forces over the last few years.
