Somalia's President appoints former aid worker as new PM

MOGADISHU, Somalia- Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has appointed former humanitarian worker Hassan Ali Kheyre as the new Prime Minister of the country, a day after his inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, Garowe Online reports.

The new PM has served as the Director of Soma Oil & Gas in East Africa, a UK-based company, and regional Director of Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) before he was appointed as PM.

Hassan Ali Kheyre who holds dual Norway-Somali citizenship is believe to be a new comer to the political scene, according to sources.

On the other hand, Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has on Thursday jetted off to Saudi Arabia, his first trip outside the country since his election in February 8.

President Farmajo will meet with King Salman during his visit to Saudi Arabia, to discuss the bilateral relations between the two countries, according to the sources.
