Somalia PM leaves for London for education summit

MOGADISHU, Somalia - The Prime Minister of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble has on Monday left the country for London where he's set to participate in the London Global Education Summit which will open July 28.

In London, PM Roble is set to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya and other leaders. In May, Uhuru had invited Roble to visit Somalia but the plan is yet to be actualized due to difficulties in Somalia’s elections.

According to the UK mission in Kenya, President Uhuru Kenyatta and British PM Boris Johnson at 10 Downing Street in London. Uhuru is set to arrive in London on July 27 to co-chair the forum.

Several heads of state and government, as well as stakeholders and youth leaders, will participate in the summit on Financing Global Partnership for Education (GPE) 2021-2025.

The participants from Africa invited to the two-day conference expected to make a call to world leaders to invest more in getting children into school and build back better from coronavirus.

For almost ten years, Somalia and Kenya have been at loggerheads over the Indian Ocean maritime border row which has been in the UN judicial organ, International Court of Justice [ICJ] in Hague.

Reliable sources told Garowe Online that Roble's trip to London comes at the time his relationship with the outgoing president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo is at the bottom low.
